Tonight, the Cannabis Church Revival Tour continues from 6 to 8 at the Penrose Library, says the Cannabis Therapy Institute.
Roger Christie of THC Ministry will be giving information on his church, which his website says, "helps to protect you from arrest, prosecution and/or conviction of ‘marijuana’ charges — wherever you live — starting as soon as you sign up, become ordained and receive your ministry documents."
While the religious defense was unsuccessfully attempted by 25-year-old Trevor Douglas, some flaws in his case — namely that he joined the church after arrest — may have sunk it before it ever got going.
In the meantime, Christie is preparing another run at religious protection, securing support from high-profile marijuana lawyers Rob Corry and Warren Edson, says Denver's Westword.
"We're preparing to file temporary and permanent injunctions on the state government and the federal government," Christie says. "Our goal is legal immunity from prosecution," by essentially forcing officials to treat participating dispensaries like churches and cannabis as a religious sacrament.
