Forget the paisley ties and fancy socks. This Father's Day (which is Sunday don't forget), get your dad a cat.
No, I'm not kidding.
The Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region is in the midst of its June "Cat Story 3: No Cat Gets Left Behind" promotion. Every cat adoption includes a rabies vaccination (important in these here parts) and a microchip — and on every Saturday in June, you can bring home two cats for the price of one ($48).
But even more special, this Sunday, every father can adopt a spayed or neutered cat or kitten for free.
Please don't get your dad a cat if he's allergic, or otherwise opposed to these cute little creatures. No matter how good a deal "free" is, sadly, the Humane Society is reporting today that they are in the midst of a cat crisis. They're completely out of room at the inn and currently cannot take in any more owner-surrendered felines until they adopt some out.
In other words, you cannot give a gift receipt with this present.
