The Pikes Peak Community Foundation just opened reservations for Venetucci Farm's annual Starlight Dining Series. At each of the three Monday night dinners, local chefs and culinarians come to the farm and prepare a multi-course, drink-paired meal for guests, following an educational farm tour.
On July 26, chef Victor Matthews and Paragon Culinary School students will cook, followed by chefs Brent Beavers (formerly of Sencha) and Justin Trudeau (Pizzeria Rustica) on Aug. 23 and chef David McDonough of Adam's Mountain Café on Sept. 27.
Seats are limited and have sold out quickly in the past couple of years, so consider booking early.
The cost is $100, $50 of which is tax-deductible. Before you groan, remember that this is a fundraiser for the farm, which contributes greatly to our community. Call 389-1251 for info or reservations.
I had the good fortune to be invited to the first of these dinners in 2008 (hence the photos I posted), and I truly had a wonderful experience. The chefs created some creative and delicious — and super-fresh — plates, the wine and beer flowed freely, and we visited pigs, chickens, cows and took a horse-drawn carriage ride with farmer Patrick Hamilton. This is undoubtedly a unique dining experience you won't find elsewhere.
