Republican gubernatorial candidate Scott McInnis makes a stop Thursday at The Broadmoor for a fundraiser that will feature former White House press secretary Dana Perino. Perino is a graduate of Colorado State University-Pueblo.
The reception is from 6:30 to 8 p.m. in the Crystal Room at the Broadmoor's main building, 1 Lake Ave., and is being coordinated by El Paso County Commissioner Sallie Clark, who serves as McInnis' local campaign chair.
Cost is $55 per person, but generous types can give up to $1,050 each. To RSVP: Barbcard@comcast.net 720-984-4881.
McInnis campaign spokesman Sean Duffy says there won't be any announcement about McInnis' choice for his lieutenant governor running mate, a slot for which Clark has been mentioned as a possibility.
He says the campaign is focused on the Aug. 10 Republican primary and McInnis might or might not make a running-mate announcement before then.
McInnis, a former congressman, is locked in a heated battle for the Republican nomination with businessman Dan Maes.
A press release gave this information about Perino:
Dana Perino served as the White House Press Secretary to President George W. Bush from 2007-2009 as the first Republican woman to hold that position. She is an expert on healthcare, energy policy, and the position of female leaders in government and business. Before she joined the White House, in the wake of 9/11, Perino was a spokesperson at the Department of Justice. Her political experience also includes working on Capitol Hill for Rep. Dan Schaefer (R-CO) and Rep. Scott McInnis (R-CO). She worked as a journalist before turning to politics, covering the State Assembly of Illinois for the local CBS affiliate. She is the president of her own strategic communications firm, Dana Perino and Company. Perino is a frequent contributor on Fox News and her commentary can be found regularly in The Washington Post, Politico, and National Review.
