Negotiations between Colorado Springs Utilities and the Bureau of Reclamation kick off this week in Pueblo for a contract to store water in Pueblo Reservoir for the Southern Delivery System.
Chris Woodka, a reporter at The Pueblo Chieftain, gives a full report about the negotiations and what they mean.
Colorado Springs and its Southern Delivery System partners will begin talks with the bureau at 9 a.m. Tuesday in the third floor board room of the Sangre de Cristo Arts and Conference Center, 210 N. Santa Fe Ave.
A second session is planned at Colorado College on June 15.
"To operate SDS from Pueblo Reservoir, we must negotiate long-term contracts with the Bureau of Reclamation for water storage, conveyance and exchanges using the Reservoir," Utilities spokeswoman Janet Rummel told the Independent earlier this month.
