Attend the tasting from 4 to 7 p.m. for $5, which includes a commemorative logo glass and appetizers prepared by Adam Merlino of Merlino's Belvedere Restaurant.
Festivities continue on March 18 with the release of the 2008 Colorado Merlot Reserve, paired with treats by Sharon Cosat of Beyond Madness Catering, and March 25 with the 2009 Sauvignon Blanc Reserve release matched with eats by Han Son of MoMo Japanese Restaurant. The same hours, souvenirs and cover charge apply.
What's special about the reserve wines?
From tasting room manager Sally Cookson:
The reserve wines that are being offered are produced in extremely limited quantities. Winemaker Matt Cookson takes the best lots of grapes from the harvests and ages the wines in the newest and finest of oak barrels, thus earning the “Reserve” title. “This is a great opportunity to make the first offerings of these wines to our loyal customers in Southern Colorado,” says Cookson. “They’ve put us on the map, and we like to give back in every way we can.”
And one bonus for attending: Also get a "very special" barrel tasting of the 2008 Colorado Syrah directly from the production facility adjacent to the tasting room.
