Two totally unrelated bits of food news:

First, Shuga's recently started a Back Door Dinner Series, featuring four courses for $39 complimented by drink specials. The next dinner will take place at 6 p.m., Sunday, March 14 and as of this post, several seats are still available.

Second, congrats to local chef Pete Aiello of Alpine Chef catering, who was just named one of eight apprenticeship regional trainers by the American Culinary Federation Education Foundation.

According to an ACF press release, the honor entails the following:

Serving in a volunteer capacity, he will visit apprenticeship sites across the country to provide guidance on how to implement the new apprenticeship initiatives funded through the U.S. Department of Labor grant to participating ACFEF Apprenticeship Programs. As an ART, he will also assist new programs that wish to start an ACFEF Apprenticeship Program.
