We all know that dude.
And while most of us would rather avoid the painful adventures of these everyday Indiana Joneses, there's a part of us that sort of envies them, right? I mean, wouldn't it be great to have stories like that?
Well, as it turns out, there is a way to experience a catastrophe in your life without actually, you know, getting hurt or being endangered or anything.
The South Central All-Hazards Region, Pikes Peak Metropolitan Medical Response System (MMRS) and the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office will be simulating a "mass-casualty event" involving a rural school that's been hit by a tornado.
Volunteers — this could be you — will be decked out with fake blood and given a chance to be rescued from this seemingly-treacherous situation. Then they'll be taken away, most likely in an ambulance, but possibly — get this! — in a helicopter.
The whole thing is being conducted for training purposes, so your simulated awful experience will help the people who show up when something bad actually does happen.

CALL FOR VOLUNTEERS
Who: Citizens 13 years of age or older to serve as simulated casualties (Minors MUST be accompanied by a parent or adult who is prepared to remain on site throughout the exercise)
What: Exercise NOAA’s Ark, El Paso County Full Scale Exercise
Where: Ellicott Elementary School, 350 S. Ellicott Hwy. Ellicott, CO 80808 and various locations in El Paso County
When: June 5, 2010 7:00am to 6:00pm
The South Central All-Hazards Region, Pikes Peak Metropolitan Medical Response System (MMRS) and the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office will be conducting a Full Scale Exercise (FSE) involving a mass casualty event at a rural school caused by a tornado. The exercise provides the opportunity for the emergency services of El Paso County and the City of Colorado Springs to focus on their initial response to a significant event.
