Just sat down inside the B.C. Place, and the setting for the opening ceremony is amazing, more like a Summer Games than the Winter Olympics. With seats on part of the field area, there should be at least 60,000 people here.
We're hearing that the entertainment will include Sarah McLachlan, Celine Dion, Bryan Adams, Nellie Furtado and Joni Mitchell. Still the odds-on best guess for the flame-lighting honor is hockey legend Wayne Gretzky, but perhaps with older ex-stars Bobby Orr and Gordie Howe in some kind of role.
It should be a great show, with a blue-tinged theme throughout the stadium and roof obviously intended to re-create the Northern Lights (aurora borealis).
Still no word about possible changes to the luge schedule, but everyone expects some kind of tribute to the Georgian luger killed in training earlier today.
