Pueblo: There's an app for that

In the future, everyone will be an iPhone app for 15 minutes. Possibly longer.

And for CSU-Pueblo, that future is now. The university introduced its own iPhone/iTouch/mobile app this week. User reviews of the free app so far range from “Lame” to “Freaking AWESOME,” mostly the latter.

Features vary in usefulness: For those unfamiliar with the campus, the map feature provides a level of useful detail you’ll never get from Google Maps. There’s also news, course listings and a faculty directory.

Less crucial is the images section — not sure how often folks will be making repeat visits to “student life” (25 pics of smiling students) or “resident housing” (11 photos of unidentified buildings, one of a woman carrying a pillow and blanket) — but, you know, to each their own.

The events feature could also use some fine-tuning. As it is now, there’s no obvious way to preview future events other than choosing a day and then waiting to see if anything’s actually happening. That's great for 12-steppers, but not so much for those who plan more than one day at a time.

Of course, it is new and it is free. So if you’re Pueblo and you’re mobile, you've got nothing to lose.
