Madden 2K10

Maybe I'm the last person to hear about this, but I recently caught wind about another museum in Denver, the Madden Museum of Art in Greenwood Village.

The Madden opened in late 2008 inside the Palazzo Verdi office tower near Fiddler's Green Amphitheatre (now Comfort Dental Amphitheatre. Yes, I know the name sucks). Similar to the Getty in LA and the Guggenheim in Venice, the museum is based on the holdings of collector and namesake John Madden, a real estate developer. Unlike former two, however, the Madden has received little notoriety since it opened. Westword named it "Best Mysterious Museum," but before that, Denver Post art critic Kyle MacMillian raised questions as to the museum's mission in a harsh review.

Depending on your point of view, limited talk can either be a red flag or a welcome invitation. Not having been there myself, I can't really endorse it one way or another. So you be the judge, review the Web site and share your experience, should you be in the area. The Madden is now hosting an exhibition of Italian paintings in Salotto di Luminoso and for a limited time, has free admission.
