On its homepage, the Denver Post has put up a reader poll asking the following: "Who do you think would be the best candidate to retain the [governor's] office for the Democrats?"
Despite Denver Mayor John Hickenlooper saying he would gladly defer to U.S. Interior Secretary Ken Salazar, plenty of people apparently believe Hickenlooper's popularity in Denver could translate statewide. As of 8:05 p.m., Salazar has gotten 463 votes (23.36 percent), and Hickenlooper 459 (23.15 percent). Colorado's former House speaker, Andrew Romanoff, is a distant third with 212 votes (10.69 percent).
