The Food Channel's Top 10 in 2010

Last week in our Side Dish section, we told you about the National Restaurant Association's What Hot in 2010 list.

This week, the Food Channel released its Top 10 Food Trends for 2010. Among the picks: a back-to-basics approach to food, experimentation, food vetting (i.e. more investigation of what we consume), sustainability and food bartering.

It will be interesting to see which of these predictions take hold locally, and if we can truly quantify changes in local kitchens. Then again, I'd argue that many of our local eateries are ahead of, or at least in step with, these trends.

One thing to keep in mind: This Food Channel list, unlike the National Restaurant Association's, isn't limited to restaurant trends. So the practices you adopt in your own kitchen will help validate or disprove these tasty prognostications.
