Merry hop-mas



Beer and December go together like...well, like beer and everything else: perfectly.

In that spirit, a quick guide to some of the local holiday brews available for comforting consumption. Some have limited availability, so drink up, me holly-jolly-hearties, drink up.

From Trinity Brewing Co. comes their Noel Farmhouse, currently on tap at the brewery. Described by user BlackForestCO as having an "aroma of brown sugar, caramel, pumpkin, some earthy yeast, a soft fruitiness, and a myriad of spices (sage, nutmeg, pepper)" the beer has limited availability. With previous growler: $14; without: $16.

Bristol Brewing Co. brings the funk and the noise with two holiday classics: Edge City Christmas Ale (growler: $12), made with "a combination of cardamom, cloves, star anise and cinnamon" and Old No. 23 (growler: $19; 4-pack: $12), a barley wine with "the complexity of a good brandy or single malt scotch."

Phantom Canyon Brewing Co. hasn't created anything explicitly seasonal, but a couple of Phantom's Dunkle Weizens and its "apple aroma and hints of caramel taste" should be enough get anybody doing the jelly-bowl laugh. With previous growler: $10; without: $14.

Lastly is Rock Bottom Bottom Restaurant & Brewery's pumpkin lager. While a description is not available, the restaurant confirmed a high-demand, with only two kegs remaining. Growler: $9.

And now, for something completely different. To our dear readers whose will-to-live has been sucked dry by this lovely weather we've been having, and refuse to leave the house in pursuit of liquid cheer, I offer you this consolation:
