Local artist Phil Lear is a mainstay in our fair city, with his vibrant and narrative paintings decorating such local haunts as Bonny & Read, and with shows like 2018’s The Mussorgsky Project at The Modbo to showcase his attention to detail and storytelling. Now, prepare for a new Lear exhibit with a bit of a twist on the usual fare — though nothing about Lear can truly be called “usual.” For this show, Lear has chosen to create each painting solely with a palette knife, not a brush to be found.
