Why care about Obamacare?

As we're all at different stages of life, we all have different takes on what the American health care experience is — and, furthermore, what it should be.

What is your current health care situation? I am destitute right now and 64 years old. I don't have any insurance.

Do you plan on signing up? I have no idea. I kind of don't want to, and I kind of don't like it in general. It puts too much government control over things.

What are your thoughts about the mandate for employers' plans to cover birth control? I don't think they should be forced to give that kind of service. Some people can take care of it on their own.

What do you hope America's health care will look like in the future? I'd like to see the free market opened up more, and let people decide what they want to do. I think Obama is very much a socialist.

What is your current health care situation? I have health insurance until the end of the year from a previous employer, and then it runs out and I'll have to figure out the Obamacare thing.

Once your coverage runs out, do you think you'll sign up? I kind of have to, don't I?

What are your thoughts about the mandate for employers' plans to cover birth control? I think it's a great idea to provide birth control to anyone who needs it. It would greatly reduce the amount of children on CHIP (Children's Health Insurance Program) and the amount of unwanted children in general.

What do you hope America's health care will look like in the future? Instead of the mandated Obamacare, they should have regulated the insurance companies that existed to make it so people could afford it.

What is your current health care situation? We currently have insurance through my husband's retirement.

What are your thoughts about the mandate for employers' plans to cover birth control? I think they should [mandate it], and I think they should provide other family-planning services also. There are a lot of women that have families by themselves and they need to be taken care of.

What do you hope America's health care will look like in the future? I guess you would call it "choose-able socialism." I have a friend who grew up in Germany. ... Sometimes they went to a private doctor, got in right away and paid out of pocket. Sometimes they went through the socialized system and had to wait, but their health care was the same. I think that could work in America.
