Describe our immigration crisis. For every 12 to 15 illegal aliens crossing the Rio Grande, we only catch one. States like Kansas, Texas, New Mexico, Colorado and California are flooded daily with thousands of illegal aliens who take jobs and use up medical resources.
Should the U.S.-Mexico border be sealed? The cost of doing that outweighs the outcome we'd get. And it costs more to deport 'em than it does to let 'em stay.
Do the "illegals" benefit us in any way? They do jobs most Americans won't take. If the government could find a system to control this immigration, I think it would work out.
When did your family come to the United States? Back in the late '60s, from England and Czechoslovakia.
Why did they come here? Their chances were better here.

Describe our immigration crisis. People misunderstand the problem. A lot of Americans don't want to do the work these people do, and they're looking for the same things we are -- an opportunity to create a better life for themselves and their children.
Why do politicians like Colorado Rep. Tom Tancredo take such a hard line on this problem? A lot of Americans are feeling very distrustful and xenophobic since 9/11. I wonder if the Tancredos have witnessed firsthand the social, political and economic situation of where these people come from.
Should our border be sealed? You can't seal yourself off from the real world.
When did your ancestors come here? I have no idea, but my great-grandmother was a former slave. It's ironic that my ancestors, who were brought here forcibly as slaves, came here "legally," but people who come here from Mexico and Central America do so "illegally."

Describe our immigration crisis. I don't see it as such a problem, but it seems to be more of a problem in border states like Texas, Arizona and California.
Should we seal our borders? No, but we need to get better control over the number coming in.
When did your family migrate here? My dad's family came here from France in the early '40s.
Why did they come here? Looking for a better opportunity.
Is it a good thing they did?For them, yes. And for the country, too. They brought a different culture and people to work hard for low wages just to get their foot in the door.
