Ordinary cover bands may come and go, but the Martini Shot has gone the distance, racking up 13 years on the local club scene and 10 with the current lineup. From a-ha to Weezer, plus a ska version of "The Lion Sleeps Tonight," they serve up high-energy pop-music favorites with no shortage of showmanship.
While the group pays its bills with cover-band material, they're also working new original material. "We're starting to write again," says frontman Andy Clementi. "We've been so busy with life, and all that goes with it, that time is limited to get together and be creative. We see each other twice a week or more, but it's always at a show, playing."
The group has written an album's worth of songs, but in the meantime plans to release a four-track EP as soon as they can finish up arrangements and make time to go into the studio.

And then there's the anniversary. The Martini Shot is currently in the process of putting together a concert to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the current lineup. The group is inviting past members to join them at the one-off show, which will be held at Stargazers in October.
"We're excited about it," says the singer. "It's not often that a group of six players in a local band can stick together for a decade. And we're not hanging it up anytime soon."
