Summers here are paradise. The skies are burning blue, the temps mild, the sun golden, everything alive in greeny profusion and palpable exuberance. It smells good. It's a joy just to be alive and outside, part of the immense dance.
What figures to be your summer highlight? Continuing with my painting, running and staying fit, going on camping trips with my husband. Also, the Celtic Woman concert two weeks from now in Denver.
What's the best part of summer here? I moved here from Michigan only a short while ago, but I think I'm going to like the cooler nights.
What's the biggest-deal local summer event for you? The Pikes Peak Marathon is a pretty big deal. It sold out in eight minutes this year.
Do you see life differently in summer? I feel more free. I love the vegetation.

What will be your summer high point? Lots of trail running, training for the Leadville 100 on Aug. 18. I'm the defending champion.
What's your favorite thing about summer here? The weather is absolutely perfect for being outside. Also, how close and accessible the mountains are.
Name the most overrated local event in summer. The Pikes Peak Rodeo. What the hell is that?
What's the most underrated? All the farmers' markets.
Describe your worst-ever sunburn. The one I got when I went down to Mexico in March to backpack in the Copper Canyon area, near Chihuahua. I really got fried. I couldn't sleep on my back, I couldn't sleep on my side, it hurt even to wear clothes.

What are you really looking forward to this summer? My son and I vacationing in New Mexico.
What's the best part of being here this time of year? There's so many recreational things to do hiking, camping, bike riding.
Name the most overrated summer event in our area. The Range Riders street breakfast.
Your worst sunburn? I sunburned the tops of my feet so badly water skiing at Pueblo Reservoir that I couldn't put shoes on.
