Lance Lisenby Benefit Concert Sunday, March 6, noon to 6 p.m. Union Station, 2419 N. Union Blvd.; 227-7168 free (donations accepted)
Most people have a memorable New Year's Eve story. Southern acoustic rock guitarist Lance Lisenby (shown above), formerly of the local band Leaving the Trees, has a story of New Year's Day 2005 that sucks more than any we've ever heard. Early on Jan. 1, his car was hit by a train in Montgomery, Ala., and his arm was severed. Springs musicians have responded in their classic big-hearted way by hosting a benefit to help pay for Lisenby's medical bills. Even if you don't know Lisenby or Leaving the Trees, you'll appreciate the rockin' local lineup that includes Neighborhood Bully, Last Band on Earth, the Steele-Daniels Band, the Voodoo Hawks and Electric Mushroom. Lisenby, who is making an impressive recovery, will be at the event to soak in the tunes and accept your well wishes. If you can't make it to the show, donations are also accepted at all Wells Fargo banks.
