Was Columbus more a hero or a villain? He was both. The people he killed and enslaved make him a villain. The original act and his vision make him a hero.
How do you view the yearly protests over the big Columbus Day parade in Denver? It would be a good thing if we incorporated recognition of the bad things he did into Columbus Day in a positive way.

What's your view on the annual controversy over Columbus Day parades in Denver? There's been a lack of respect for Native Americans and how they're treated. Who really discovered America? You can't discover something that's already there. Columbus landed there and wrote about it, but it was already there and inhabited.

Should we cancel Columbus Day parades and do something else? He changed the course of Western history. If some people want to honor him for that reason, it really doesn't bother me.
Who actually discovered America? DNA tests show it was the Asians who first came here over the Bering Straits.
