Do You Know Who I Am?

When: Thu., May 8, 6-7:30 p.m. 2014

Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Jose Antonio Vargas gained acclamation (and some notoriety) when, in 2011, he "came out" in The New York Times Magazine as an undocumented immigrant. Still, as he told the Village Voice last week, "the culture has not yet shifted on immigration." But that shift can only be hastened by stuff like tonight's Do You Know Who I Am? production. Performed by five Boulder County Latinos whose personal stories were woven together by Motus Theater artistic director Kirsten Wilson, the play — happening for free at 6 at UCCS' Berger Hall (1420 Austin Bluffs Pkwy., events.uccs.edu) — is full of gravitas before it even begins: "Reality is," performer Ana Cristina Temu told Westword in November, "if somebody really wanted to, they could call immigration on all of us." — Bryce Crawford
