This morning, the Downtown Partnership announced the 2014-2015 lineup for the 16th Annual Art on the Streets juried sculpture competition. The 11 works chosen — culled from among entries from four countries, 21 states and 16 Colorado cities — come from the following artists and artist teams:

Dee Briggs, Pittsburgh, Pa.
Timothy D. Cassidy, New York Mills, Minn.
Steven Durow, Fruitland, Md.
Atomic Elroy, Petaluma, Calif.
Sandy Friedman, Colorado Springs, Colo.
Steven Huffman, Ottumwa, Iowa
Suzanne Kane, Las Cruces, N.M.
James Alan Murray, South Portland, Maine
Michael Shewmaker, Hilo, Hawaii
Andrew Tirado, Colorado Springs, Colo. (The Indy covered Tirado's solo show at Pikes Peak Community College last October, here.)
Adina Ana Vomisescu and Juliana Morar, Toronto, Canada

The jury includes returning judge Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center museum director and chief curator Blake Milteer, local architect Michael Collins and Salida artist Jimmy Descant, who has shown his work extensively in the Springs and around the state. The three will decide the winners of the contest, but there's a people's choice award you can vote for as well. All the costs that go into the prize money, set-up and take down are covered by private support.

An opening reception and awards ceremony will be held Thurs., June 12, which means also that in the weeks preceding, the sculptures will be set up throughout downtown (with last year's batch being removed). By then, the Partnership will have a walking guide to each work, as well as the numerous other public pieces installed downtown permanently.
