Attention, haters.

Manitou Springs government has heard your calls, your yells, and your emails. And it is adjusting its meter policies for the winter to be much more lenient.

Manitou installed the meters earlier this year in an effort to deal with parking congestion in the city's bustling downtown. But with the summer tourism season gone, the city is allowing more free parking in the winter months.

Manitou Springs Implements Winter Parking Program

DENVER, Dec. 3, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Standard Parking Corporation (Nasdaq:SP), one of the nation's leading providers of parking management, ground transportation and other ancillary services, and its SP Plus(R) Municipal Services operating division, in conjunction with the City of Manitou Springs, announced the implementation of the city's Winter Parking Program.

The Winter Parking Program modifies the regular season paid parking hours from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. seven days a week, to 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. The City of Manitou Springs will provide free parking for the first three hours Monday through Thursday. The Program, designed to assist visitor traffic to Manitou Springs during the off-season, will be in effect from Dec. 2, 2013 through Mar. 9, 2014. Ruxton Avenue, from Manitou to Osage Avenue, does not fall under the Winter Program with current hours and rates in effect all year.

The City of Manitou Springs Parking Authority Board Web site hosts complete information regarding the Winter Parking Program and serves as a central resource for any questions regarding City of Manitou Springs parking.

John D. Conway, Vice President/Regional Manager of Standard Parking's Colorado operations stated, "We are extremely pleased to be rolling out the Winter Parking Program in Manitou Springs as it spotlights the community and lets the public know that Manitou Springs is open for business year-round. Manitou Springs remains an excellent shopping and dining destination throughout the winter months. And, we hope this opportunity provides patrons an added incentive to visit the community."

Not enough. Get rid of them year round. Go back to free parking, three hour limit using yellow chalk.
