Adopting a populist approach, Colorado Springs Mayor Steve Bach tonight holds his third town hall meeting so far this year — part of a schedule that will more than double the number of these meetings he had last year.
Last year, he held four, one in each sector of the city. This year, he'll host 10 meetings. We asked Bach's communications department twice for an explanation for the increase, but got just this: "The town hall meetings provide an opportunity for increased citizen interaction and involvement."
Here's the notice for tonight's meeting:
Please join Mayor Steve Bach for the Town hall Meeting on Tuesday, March 19th, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Colorado Springs Shrine Club located at 6 S 33rd Street, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80904. The main topic will be the 2014 City General Fund budget. The budget presentation will include an opportunity for citizens to provide comments on the 2014 budget — specifically, ideas for the City to more efficiently and effectively provide services with existing resources.
Here's the townhall schedule for the year. Locations will be announced later. All meetings begin at 6:30 p.m.
