Macklemore & Lewis ready to chill at Red Rocks

Winter on the Rocks
It took more than 70 years for someone to carry through on the completely insane idea of putting on a winter concert at Red Rocks Amphitheater.

Crazier still is the fact that the January 2012 show, which was headlined by Atmosphere, with Common as support act, completely sold out.

Now, Denver ski manufacturer Icelantic is at it again with what's being billed as its second annual Winter on the Rocks.

So will headliners Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, who were playing the Black Sheep just last year, be able to pull off their own dead-of-winter Red Rocks sellout come Feb. 1?

Hard to say, but the duo did manage to reach No. 2 on the Billboard albums chart back in October.

It also won't hurt that they're getting an opening-act assist from Major Lazer, the pan-cultural electronica project launched by superstar deejay/producer Diplo.

Tickets are on sale now. Not being big on frostbite myself, I'm pretty glad I managed to catch the duo at the Black Sheep back when that was still possible. And here's my iPhone clip to prove it.
