If you want to learn more about fracking (hydraulic fracturing, that is — the use of water, sand and chemicals to jar loose oil and gas deposits that otherwise couldn't be produced), here's your chance. Since fracking is likely to be part of this community within just a few months, the Colorado Springs Citizens for Community Rights is hosting an event to educate the public on this procedure.
Here's an announcement of the event:
Following City Council’s disappointing vote for weak oil & gas regulations, CSCCR’s educational campaign continues unabated on December 8, 2012, from 1:00-5:00pm at Armstrong Hall Room #300 (Max Kade Theatre) as we host “The Truth About Fracking Film Fest.” Join us for a free viewing of GasLand, Truthland, The Sky is Pink, and other informative films about hydraulic fracturing. An informed citizenry is an empowered citizenry.
Colorado Springs Citizens for Community Rights (CSCCR) is a group formed to protect our rights to be healthy and have clean air, water and soil. Our Mission is to:
• Educate our city about oil & gas drilling and hydraulic fracturing (fracking);
• Work with local, state and federal governments to ensure comprehensive oil & gas drilling and hydraulic fracturing regulations;
• Place a rights-based charter amendment on the ballot in Colorado Springs banning hydraulic fracturing.
