As always, there's much more going on in the local grub-and-slug world than I'm able to fit into my weekly Side Dish column.

By mid- to late August, Tram plans to be open at 7607 N. Union Blvd., in the former Dragon Wok space. I will have more on that for you in next week's Side Dish column.
• Phantom Canyon Brewing Co. has new brews on tap, including the 1942 Burton Ale, part of the brewery's Revival Series. This "practically extinct style" was developed "in parallel with the development of Indie Pale Ale," explains the company newsletter. Click the link above to read on about the WWII-era drink.
Also on tap currently is the Ah Bing Sour-Mash Cherry Ale. Sign up for the restaurant's newsletter for perks. The latest newsletter features a free beer coupon during 3 to 6 p.m. happy hours if you print the email message and bring it in through the month's end.
The dinner takes place at 6 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 4 (following a farming workshop with Salatin), and seats are $40; RSVP to firstname.lastname@example.org.
• PEAK Parent Center will be the beneficiary of Bristol Brewing Company's next Tuesday Night Karma Hour (actually hours: 5 to 9 p.m.) on Aug. 7. For every pint sold, Bristol will donate $1 to PEAK, which works directly with families who have children with disabilities.
• The Black Bear Restaurant and Bourbon Bar will host an Elijah Craig 20-Year Release Party at 6 p.m., Friday, Aug. 17, featuring live music and five bourbon-paired food courses. Seats are $99, reservations required at 964-2990.
Continuing his foray into bourbon country, chef Victor Matthews has selected a progressive bourbon flight for the evening to lead up to the special release. Diners will begin with regular Maker's Mark, then move to the special Maker's 46 (our favorite), then on to Elijah Craig 12, 18 and then 20.
For those interested in learning more about bourbon, the Bear is offering a Bourbon & BBQ class on Saturday, Aug. 11 and Sunday, Aug. 12, from 2 to 5 p.m. each day, finishing with a dinner from 6 to 8 p.m. on Sunday. Guests will learn "smoking secrets and how to make sauce," for a total weekend cost of $250.
• An early heads-up on an Odell Brewing Co. beer dinner at the Melting Pot at 6 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 30: Seats are $45 for four beer-paired courses. Click on the icon to the left to view the full menu.
