A few weeks ago, the Indy's J. Adrian Stanley wrote about the return of a miniature Statue of Liberty to downtown Colorado Springs. For those of us unschooled in this snippet of Springs history, there was an obvious WTF? element to the whole thing (encapsulated nicely within Adrian's professed hopes for a downtown Sphinx).
Anyway, turns out the story is even more bizarre than we might have imagined. We won't give it away here, but we will say it may involve overzealous Boy Scouts, a missing time capsule and misapplied automotive paint. To read all about it, check out the city release at springsgov.com. And we'll see you at the July 4 dedication, scout's honor.
