The “if” clouding the probability of the wildly successful “What If Festival” returning for another round has been removed and it's been announced that the festival will return on Saturday, Sept. 10.

The “What If Festival,” which drew 15,000 people in its inaugural year, will again feature Colorado Springs’ “tech-enthusiasts, art-makers, garage inventors, do-it-yourselfers, performers, musicians, scientists, mathematicians, culinary magicians, robot builders, urban farmers, student creators, innovators, [and] engineers” in a smorgasbord of imagination that Ingmar Bergman could not deny.

For “virgin” innovators, the challenge is to create an “experience” for viewers that will hook them into your whale of an idea. Propositions are due by July 15 and applications can be filled out here.

Proposals must have both creativity, which the website defines as “our inherent, but sometimes un-fostered ability to create something that is, in some way, new rather than limited,” and innovation, “[the] creation of something that is both imaginative/creative and usable.”
