Who says small isn't beautiful? When it comes to jobs, any number of new hires is something to celebrate.
Today, the Colorado Springs Regional Economic Development Corporation announced a solar company based in New Jersey will open an office in Colorado Springs on April 1. It'll start with three employees, but plans to hire a dozen people over the next five years.
Olson Motor & Control Co., Inc. will occupy a manufacturing facility at 1902 Aerotech Drive, where workers will support the OM&C Solar Products Division, focusing on key projects in central, Southwest and Western U.S. markets.
"We view our Colorado Springs Branch as a critical piece of the OM&C business plan and a testament to our commitment to the renewable energy marketplace," President Bill Olson said in a press release. “With the tremendous growth we have experienced in the last several years, and our projections for the future we recognized a clear need for a manufacturing facility in the Western half of the U.S.
"After looking at several states and cities, we found Colorado Springs to be a sweet spot in meeting our requirements. It is beautiful country and well situated in terms of logistics with easy access for transporting materials and products. Additionally it offers a rich employee pool, particularly with the number of returning and retiring military veterans and personnel, many of whom are solid matches to our desired skill set and background. Finally, and this was definitely a key deciding factor, the Colorado Springs Regional Economic Development Corporation was so proactive, supportive and responsive to our plans for this new branch — it became obvious that this was the best of all possible solutions.”
