If there's one thing I've learned doing interviews at places like the Colorado Springs Pioneers Museum and the Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center, it's this: Museums are even cooler behind the exhibits.
Proof? Take a look at our blog series on the Pioneers Museum. What started as a thinly veiled request to go into the tower during its restoration became an amazing trek through the museum's permanent collection and the building's history.
So, enough gloating, because now anyone can go behind the scenes with the Museum Experience at the Pioneers Museum. Over the course of three day-long workshops spaced out over a month, you'll help create a community exhibit by searching the museum's collection with the director, selecting items to display with the registrar and doing research with the curator.
And you're helping the museum as well, by providing a "fresh perspective and community insight" to its programming.
The first session starts Feb. 26, but there are summer and fall sessions planned as well. The Experience costs $125 for members and $150 for non-members, and lunches will be included on session days.
