Sneak peek at December's art shows

Here's a look at a few of the numerous art shows opening next week:

First, Sean O'Meallie will debut his newest work at the Business of Arts Center. You may remember O'Meallie from his contribution to the Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center's Conflict | Resolution show this summer, the beguiling Danger Toy Love Gun. Even though the subjects of his sculptures have changed some, his signature high-polish style is still beautifully the same, retaining that startling focus on the a thin line between sweetness and aggression, the playful and the dangerous.

Next, 50 Images by 50 Students at Kathleen McFadden's Range Gallery. This week-long exhibit features photography by students at Eagle View Middle School, under the tutelage of Linda Thompson. McFadden says she was impressed by the images and Thompson herself, and hopes to encourage the next generation of photographers through the show.

Both shows will open Dec. 3 with a reception from 5-8 p.m.

There are a lot more shows opening this month, so check out our listings for more. And remember, this is the month for gifty art shows, so hit up places like Commonwheel Artists Co-Op, Modbo and SPQR (starting on Dec. 10) and Smokebrush Gallery.
