High unemployment, outsourcing, and continuing layoffs have this weird tendency to depress people.

C'mon! Look on the bright side. This is your big chance to go back to school and finally get that degree you always wanted (and live off student loans until the economy recovers). What a golden opportunity!

OK, I may be overplaying this a little. On the other hand, a lot of people are hitting the books these days, and it seems like a good plan. Going back to school can be confusing, however. What degree should you pursue? What are the prerequisites? How much is this going to cost?

Good news: You can get your questions answered at UCCS' upcoming open house. Here's the rundown:

UCCS to host graduate school open house

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Individuals interested in additional education in preparation for a career change or advancement are encouraged to attend an open house for graduate studies Oct. 14 at the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs.

The open house is 5:30 p.m. — 7 p.m. in University Center 303. Parking is free.

In addition to 36 bachelor’s degrees, UCCS offers 19 master’s degrees and five doctoral degrees from six colleges.
