Roughly 700 centers apply for licenses

The plot thickens, the picture clarifies, the smoke clears: 717 medical marijuana center, 271 infused-product and 1,071 grow facility applications were received by the Colorado Department of Revenue, says the Denver Post.

The applications come in response to the passed Aug. 1 deadline, and are preliminary numbers, pending the full reception of apps postmarked by the deadline.

Multiple calls by the Indy to the DOR had gone unreturned — and when reached earlier this morning, one official had said it would be impossible to know how many apps were received so soon. But the DOR apparently did the impossible for the Post, which reports that 2,059 total applications turned in thus far have generated more than $7 million in fees.

Director of Enforcement Matt Cook has previously stated the entirety of monies received will go toward creating the industry oversight infrastructure.
