Hello, danger!
  • Hello, danger!
"Oh boy, oh boy! I wanna go! I wanna go first."

No. These are not the words of a 6-year-old at Disneyland. Sadly, these are the words of a 30-year-old professional journalist who just found out that a zip-line is being considered for Fox Run Regional Park.

This journalist — who will remain unnamed in order to maintain her credibility at City Council meetings and election shindigs —¬†absolutely relishes the idea of being shot across a deep ravine at high speeds with nothing but a thin wire protecting her from a merciless fall into the abyss below.

Go figure.

Anyway, if you or someone you know suffers from a similar deficiency in self-preservation instincts, you may be interested in the following press release:

El Paso County Parks Advisory Board Hosts Public Meeting
Input Welcomed on Proposed Adventure Facility in Fox Run Regional Park

Colorado Springs, June 28, 2010 — The El Paso County Parks Advisory Board will host a public meeting to solicit input on a proposed “Ape Escape Adventure Park” at Fox Run Regional Park. The meeting will be conducted on July 15, 2010 at 6:30 p.m. in Fox Run Regional Park, 2110 Stella Drive. The meeting will be held in Pavilion # 4 located in the Pine Meadows area (west side) of the park.

Early this year, the El Paso County Parks division was approached by Ape Escape, LLC with a proposal to lease a portion of Fox Run Regional Park to construct and manage a zip-line aerial adventure facility. The proposal was reviewed by the Parks Advisory Board on April 14, 2010, and Board members subsequently requested that Parks staff coordinate a community meeting to obtain public comment on the proposal prior to further consideration. Representatives from Ape Escape, LLC will attend the meeting and present a proposed design and operational plans for the facility, and address citizens’ questions.

Please contact El Paso County Parks at 520-7529 for additional information.
