I remember just a few short years ago I was slaving over scholarship applications, nervously awaiting the results of my FAFSA, and planning how I would finance four years of a private college education.

We've come a long way in just three years. Paying for college is now as easy as creating a profile.

Denver-based Sponsor My Degree matches college students from across America with sponsors who will donate money to their education.

All students have to do is create a free profile on the website including a photo, college being attended, degree, interests, and a short bio.

For those benevolent individuals who have already settled down into a successful career: browse through the different categories and find a student you would like to sponsor. Donations can be as little as $5, however, a credit card service fee is also charged.

Sponsor My Degree checks the National Student Clearinghouse and the institution attended to verify enrollment.

Already graduated from college? Don't worry. You can still create a profile and put the money toward your student loans.

Does it seem too good to be true? Well, it could be. There's about an equal number of sketchy looking profiles as there are seemingly genuine ones.

There's not much out there about the success rate of Sponsor My Degree and part of me is curious enough to try it out myself for next year's tuition. However, the bigger part of me values hard work, so don't go looking for my profile. I'll be keeping my student loans and part time job.
