The push is on for signatures to place a measure on the November ballot to change Colorado Springs' form of government.
Citizens for Accountable Leadership
Set to Pick Up Petitions and Begin Gathering Signatures
Colorado Springs — Chuck Murphy of the Citizens for Accountable Leadership will be joined by local students and part time workers at 30 South Nevada tomorrow, June 3 at
9 a. m., to pick up petitions to begin gathering the necessary 25,000 valid signatures to put the strong mayor initiative on the ballot. Citizens for Accountable Leadership are a diverse group of citizens who have led the effort to make this significant change to the Colorado Springs City Charter.
Citizens for Accountable Leadership along with a strong volunteer effort will be providing jobs to students, former census workers, and others to gather the necessary signatures while educating the electorate on the strong mayor initiative.
“Tomorrow is a big day for us. We have worked hard to bring an initiative forward that will bring a strong, full time, and accountable leader to head our local city government. We have had an open process with a great deal of public input to this point” stated Kevin Walker “now we will go and talk to at least 37,000 of our fellow citizen’s and ask them to put this idea to the vote in November.”
