It may not be much, but El Paso County officials made some progress reclaiming a home that came to be government-owned as the result of a botched foreclosure: The residents have been served with legal notice that the county wants them out.
Yawn if you like, but finding anyone home at the house on Drakestone Drive northeast of Wasson High School has been one of the stumbling blocks in a two-year struggle to clear them from the property. (You can read about how that happened here.)
So what's next? Well, Jeanette and Jessie Dobbs, the residents, now have about a week to respond to the county's complaint. If they don't, the county will seek default judgment in favor of the public trustee's office.
If they do respond, it will lead to more motions, filings, and maybe even a trial.... Yes, this could go on for a while longer.
