From the listings desk: Leave it to the Colorado Gators Reptile Park to keep the southern half of the state weird. In honor of its first albino alligator, named Mr. Bo Mangles, our favorite out of town roadside attraction will have a day of free admission Fri., Feb. 19.
To be fair, that's not too odd. People do flock (sorry) to see the sand hill cranes in the San Luis Valley annually. And according to Colorado Gators, located outside of Mosca, this albino is one of only 50 in the world. So there. Plan ahead.
On an unrelated note, the park will host the Southern Colorado Film Commission that day with a reception and fundraiser at Calvillo's Mexican Restaurant in Alamosa at 6 p.m. (P.S. I remember eating there as a kid on a road trip, and as of 10 years ago, I thought it was great). Tickets run $15-$25. RSVP to 719/587-8209.
