In a couple short hours, we will know ... well, something more about Andrew Romanoff's insurgent bid to be the Democratic nominee for U.S. Senate.
Monday evening, Romanoff quietly released word about a noon press conference today in Denver, inviting speculation that he could have something big to say (like he's dropping out of the Senate race against Michael Bennet, or possibly even jumping into the governor's race to compete against Denver Mayor John Hickenlooper).
The latest speculation, reported this morning online by the Denver Post and at ColoradoPols.com is that he is merely "recommitting" to the Senate race against Bennet. If that's right, it would raise question marks in some minds about why that warrants a press conference.
Maybe he'll release announce an impressive fundraising haul for the last quarter of 2009 to offset Bennet's announcement he's raised a million-plus for four straight quarters since he was appointed to take the seat left vacant when Ken Salazar joined the Obama administration.
