Bighorn Sheep Day

When: Sat., Feb. 15 2014

According to the Defenders of Wildlife nonprofit, as many as 2 million bighorn sheep roamed North America in the early 1800s. Today, that number has fallen to fewer than 70,000. Since we're lucky enough to have a few in Garden of the Gods, consider paying respect by attending the park's ninth annual Bighorn Sheep Day. Presented by the city's Convention and Visitors Bureau, the free event gives you a chance to track down the sheep using high-power telescopes. Cookies and cider, along with kids' activities and crafts and live zoo animals, await; arrive at 10 at the GOG Visitors Center (1805 N. 30th St., gardenofgods.com). — Kirk Woundy
