In our story this week, "Liquid gold," we note that many believe Pueblo officials are waiting to see what funding the Springs provides for stormwater maintenance in its 2013 budget. They believe it should be millions.
(Our story details how the mayor might be able to get the money out of Colorado Springs Utilities.)
The Pueblo Chieftain, meanwhile, has confirmed some suspicions in its Sunday article, "Are they serious?" Pueblo officials are waiting to take a look at the Springs budget, it says. The article goes on to note:
Pueblo County Commissioner Jeff Chostner, who chairs the Fountain Creek Watershed Flood Control and Greenway District, has said Colorado Springs must address its stormwater problems immediately. Mr. Chostner and his fellow commissioners have written a letter to Springs officials telling them of Pueblo’s concern whether the Springs is meeting all of its obligations under the 1041 land use permit Pueblo granted the Springs for its huge Southern Delivery System water pipeline.
